A group of friends, all successful in life, visited their old professor. The conversation turned to stress and life balance. The professor went to the kitchen and returned with a pot of coffee and an assortment of cups—some fancy, some plain.
As they poured coffee, each chose the best-looking cup. The professor smiled:
“You all reached for the nice cups, but the cup adds no quality to the coffee. What you really wanted was the coffee. Life is the coffee. Jobs, status, and possessions are just the cups.”
